My name is Julie Walters, and two years ago I wrote to you as a MomsRising volunteer about my daughter, Violet, who has a rare, life-threatening health condition that causes her to have hundreds of seizures.
Before healthcare reform, there was a limit on Violet’s health coverage. Now there’s not.
But now some people in Congress want take Violet’s health coverage away. In fact, it’s not just Violet’s health coverage that’s at risk: 30 million people now have some type of healthcare coverage through the Affordable Care Act—and that law is under direct threat of being overturned.
We do the hard work everyday to stand up for Violet and everything she needs.
It’s really good to know that we’re not in this alone, that the MomsRising movement has our back and that so many people like you understand what we’re facing.
Losing health coverage would be a catastrophic loss for our girl and for hundreds of thousands of children and adults who are finally getting the care they need without pre-existing condition limits.
Together with MomsRising, we’re going to fight for every inch of ground that we’ve won. We’re not going backwards.
I’ve seen it -- MomsRising knows what it takes to mobilize and win.
MomsRising gave me the opportunity to tell my story and make a difference. And they’re empowering women and families all across America to do the same – for healthcare, gun safety, fair pay, paid family/medical leave, fair treatment of all families, and more.
The other side will spend millions to beat back health reforms. It’s a reminder of what we’re up against, and why MomsRising urgently needs your support.
Thank you again for listening to my story. Have a healthy, joyous holiday season.
With love,
Julie Walters
