Here’s what’s going on: Just last week the U.S. Senate Republicans signed off on a budget that would give $1.5 trillion in tax cuts to millionaires, billionaires, and giant corporations, while at the same time raising our national deficit. $1.5 TRILLION! And who’s footing the bill? You and me!! Outrageous!
How are they going to pay for this? By cutting our families’ health care, nutrition, and education. They are proposing massive budget cuts to programs like Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), WIC, childcare assistance, and Head Start, not to mention hampering funding for veterans affairs, K-12 education, and emergency disaster relief that allows us to respond to natural disasters like Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Meanwhile they are lining the pockets of their rich friends, golf course owners, and Wall Street executives.
We are beating the suit-wearing, briefcase-carrying Wall Street lobbyists at their own game by taking moms, dads, kids, and concerned voters to the halls of the Senate and letting them know that this plan is no good for our families. We are going to share our stories with them and encourage Senators to be superheroes for our families by protecting and supporting our health care, nutrition, and education. And to drive the message home, we’ll be handing out teddy bears dressed as superheroes to inspire our leaders to be superheroes for our children and families.
Bring your little superheroes to Capitol Hill on Wednesday, October 4th and join me in delivering stories from moms across the country and cape-wearing teddy bears to key U.S. Senators!

Where: In front of the HUGE black mountain sculpture in the lobby of the Hart Senate Office Building (Constitution Ave. between 1st and 2nd NE. Closest metro station is Union Station).
When: Wednesday, October 4th at 10:30am ET
**The delivery is superhero themed so feel free to wear costumes, your MomsRising t-shirt, or anything that shows your super powers! Kids are very welcome and can also wear costumes.
We have a very big fight ahead of us. We know we can win this one though if we all come together and let Congress know that we will not fund tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations by slashing the programs that boost our families’ health care, nutrition, and education.
