Moms Summit recap!
In celebration of Mother’s Day 2018, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi hosted a Moms Summit: Addressing the Needs of America’s Families. Leader Pelosi reached out to invite MomsRising's executive director, Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, to be among the leaders speaking at the event, and to invite local MomsRising supporters to attend!
So on Friday, May 18, 2018, dozens of MomsRising supporters from the DC metro area gathered at the Capitol Visitors Center Auditorium of the U.S. Capitol to hear national experts, academics, and Members of Congress to discuss solutions for the challenges facing today’s mothers and their families.
Here are some of the highlights from the day:
My message at #MomsSummit is simple: know your power. The ability of women & girls to improve their communities should never be in doubt.

The biggest enemy we have is passive resignation. People don't believe they have the power to change anything. We have to pierce passive resignation. - @rweingarten https://t.co/pnl3tucOP0 #MomsSummit pic.twitter.com/HMkM56KhPu

We need to look at why those who have jobs still need public assistance. We need to look at the wages offered to workers in these jobs. - @FGossGraves #MomsSummit
