“America’s moms applaud every member of the U.S. House who voted to advance the vitally important budget reconciliation process, and the Democratic leaders who skillfully guided this effort, which is bringing us one step closer to finally building the care infrastructure our country urgently needs. That includes paid leave when a new baby arrives or serious illness strikes, investments in child care, access to home- and community-based services for people with disabilities and the aging, a permanently expanded Child Tax Credit, living wages, and a path to citizenship for care and essential workers.

“A budget that invests in a robust care infrastructure will lift families, boost our economy, enable parents to work, and create millions more good jobs. It will be both job enabling and job creating, elevating businesses and keeping moms and caregivers in the jobs they need.

“Today's vote was the first step. Moms will be watching to ensure both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate also take the next steps by passing a budget that finally makes the care infrastructure investments that are long overdue. We must not squander this once-in-a-generation opportunity. Families will be only able to weather the continuing storm from the pandemic and the country will only be able to have a just recovery that allows all families and our economy to thrive if lawmakers take immediate additional steps to build the care infrastructure we all need.
