“Every lawmaker and politician should understand this: America’s moms oppose Dobbs and the abortion restrictions and bans it is allowing – and we won’t stop fighting until we prevail.” – MomsRising Executive Director Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner
June 24 marked the first anniversary of the shameful U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade. The MomsRising community mobilized for a day of action in Washington, D.C. (alongside the Women’s March and other organizations) – as well as in Charlotte, NC (alongside Vice President Kamala Harris), fighting for reproductive freedom.

“BILLS DON’T STOP WITH A BIRTH, THEY MULTIPLY”
After struggling with inadequate paid leave and childcare closures after the birth of her second daughter, MomsRising Ohio member Melissa Lester urged Congress to enact family-friendly policies like the expanded Child Tax Credit during a U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing on using the tax code to support families. Your generosity empowered Melissa’s voice!
“Our failure to adopt family-friendly policies hurts families and hurts our country. The Child Tax Credit expansion was a glimmer of hope. It made moms like me feel like maybe, just maybe, it’s possible for things to get better.” – MomsRising member Melissa Lester

WHY DO WHITE SUPREMACISTS HAVE SUCH EASY ACCESS TO GUNS?
Mary Anne Franks, American legal scholar, activist, media commentator, and the Michael R. Klein Distinguished Scholar Chair at the University of Miami School of Law.
The NRA’s interpretation of the Second Amendment is historically wrong, and its inaccurate interpretation has fed a gun violence epidemic that unfairly threatens and terrifies everyone, especially communities of color and other vulnerable groups.
How did we get here?
For National Gun Violence Awareness Month, our online Teach-In featured constitutional law professor Carl Bogus exploring ideas from his book Madison's Militia: The Hidden History of the Second Amendment together with legal scholar and activist Mary Anne Franks (pictured above). The event was moderated by Jeannette Rankin Foundation President Michele Ozumba. This informative and lively discussion drew an audience of more than 1,600, one of our largest online gatherings of the year!
