Stephanie Lormand

Stephanie Lormand is a writer and stay-at-home-mom living in Raleigh, NC with a husband, two elementary-aged sons, and too many pets. She likes sorting things by category, so she writes about parenting and parenting with ADHD at Scattermom.com, while focusing on politics and fiction at StephanieLormand.com.

As a biostatistically-influenced sociologist, she is a breed of geek rarely found in the wilds of suburbia; most of her friends don't find themselves reading 200 pages of draft bills for recreation. Finding herself hunted by collectors, she assumed the identity of stay-at-home mom for her own safety. She regularly blows her own cover, much to the dismay of birthday party attendees state-wide.

Her work has been featured in the Huffington Post, Momsrising, News & Observer, Carolina Parent, and WRAL's Go Ask Mom. You can also listen to her speak as part of the 2014 Listen To Your Mother- RDU cast.

A paper that she co-authored in college, “Assessment of the Impacts of Hurricane Floyd on East Carolina University Students” is referenced as suggested reading for a FEMA training session.
