Aliya Hussaini, MD is responsible for the Michael & Susan Dell Foundations efforts to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity through interventions that engage children, their families, their schools, and their communities in addressing nutrition and physical activity environments, access, and behavior. A practicing pediatrician in the Austin, Texas community and a mother of three, Dr. Hussaini has a bachelor of arts in Biology and Economics from Swarthmore College and a medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her pediatrics residency and served as chief resident at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. She has a master of science in Health Policy Research from the University of Pennsylvania, where she also completed the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program. In her most recent position, she worked at the Texas Department of State Health Services.

~Editor's note: As a mother of three, pediatric clinician and public health advocate, Aliya Hussaini brings a unique and compelling point of view to the conversation about the need to design schools to be environments where the healthy choice is the easy choice.
