The RISERS program will help participants learn how our federal government works, how they can advocate for their communities for family-friendly policies, and have access to opportunities to put those skills into practice to create change. They learn how to share their stories, talk to lawmakers, mobilize their fellow parents, and become leaders in their own communities.

On the radio show this week we cover what’s going on with the attacks on abortion, birth control, IVF, and reproductive healthcare – and what to do to help turn the trend around; we dive into how sharing your story changes policy; we get tips on supporting LGBTQ+ people in our family and communities; and we hear how the far right is using wedge issues and disinformation to pit voters against each other.

Pride Month

While Pride month continues to bloom, I’m inspired and motivated by the many incredible Granite Staters who are working to build a better and more inclusive New Hampshire. I was so excited when I met Bethany Murabito (she/her) in the halls of the state house this spring when we instantly connected over our fierce love for the LGBTQIA+ community and our cat eyeliner sharp enough to… well, if you know you know!

5 Fabulous LGBTQ+ Books in Spanish!
06/30/24
The following is a pile of books that came recommended, won awards, or are books I've heard about for years, all written for Spanish speakers and about the LGBTQ experience. In Las Aventuras de China Iron, author Gabriela Cabezon Camara rewrites Martín Fierro from a feminist, LGBTQ, and postcolonial perspective. China Iron travels across Argentina by covered wagon, learning about the cultures, languages, and environment along the way.

JUST IN → The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling today on EMTALA, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, still puts pregnant people at risk. This Pride month, we’re celebrating two big wins that the Risers championed in the 2024 state...

As a Granite State mom, I’m heartbroken and outraged that we’ve been working to defeat yet another sports ban in our state this year. HB 1205 – which seeks to ban transgender girls from participating in girls' sports from grades 5 through 12 – goes against everything we should stand for, especially...

Trans women and girls belong at the very heart of the gender justice and women’s rights movement. As a women’s rights advocate, I am all in for fighting for trans and non-binary people to be able to thrive, exist in peace, and experience the rights we all should get to enjoy, including in sports...

Holy acronym! If you hear the term “CCDBG” or even if you haven’t heard of it, it refers to the Child Care & Development Block Grant. The Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) provides federal funding to states for child care subsidies for low-income families with children under age 13. Families with children from birth to age 13 whose income is below 85% of the state median income are eligible on the federal level. States can set income eligibility anywhere below that ceiling, and many do.
