It’s time to use our “outside voices” for healthcare!
Members of Congress will be at home during the month of February, and many are hosting Town Halls to hear from constituents like you. Your voice is needed, and is powerful, and we hope you can go to a local event with your member of Congress. (Don’t worry, we’ll give you everything you need to attend, including a small booklet of healthcare stories for you to hand to your member of Congress.)

What’s the emergency? Healthcare is on the chopping block right now: In fact repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and making massive cuts to Medicaid, CHIP, and Medicare are at the top of President Trump’s and some members of Congress’ agenda right now, so it’s incredibly important for you to make your voice heard. (There are heroes in Congress too. Some have been protecting healthcare and they need to hear from us as well so they know we’re behind them as they fight for all of us).
*Sign up now to attend a town hall near you! http://action.momsrising.org/signup/town-hall-protect-healthcare/
When you sign up, you’ll receive an email with all the information you need to attend a town hall. We’ll send you a booklet of healthcare stories that you can hand to your member of Congress in order to give them more insight into why healthcare is so important to our families and economy. We’ll also send you some sample questions in case you want to ask one (or two!), links to data sheets, and even some MomsRising buttons and signs you can print out.
NOTE: If there isn’t a town hall happening near you, you can always swing by your Congressional Representatives’ offices to share your thoughts or drop off a healthcare stories booklet that we’ll email you when you click the link in this message.
Lawmakers thrive on contact from their constituents to gauge what people in their districts care about most. Showing up in person to share your thoughts and feelings about healthcare can make a big impact!
(Indeed, it already is! We’ve seen this through a massive slowdown of Republican’s initial goal of having the ACA repealed in January—It hasn’t happened yet, and that’s in large part due to a national outcry from the tens of millions of people who stand to lose their healthcare coverage.)
Let’s keep up the pressure while members of Congress are in their local districts! RSVP! Let us know if you can attend a local town hall: http://action.momsrising.org/signup/town-hall-protect-healthcare/
This is a big deal. Independent, credible experts agree that a repeal of the Affordable Care Act without an immediate replacement would leave almost 30 million people uninsured, including 4 million children. And the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and CHIP have brought our nation’s uninsured rate for children down to a record low of 6%. Healthcare coverage saves lives and dollars.
We cannot backtrack on all the progress we’ve made. Losing coverage is quite literally a life or death situation for many, and our nation’s economic well-being is at stake, too! Reports show there will be catastrophic economic effects if the ACA is repealed without a replacement plan in place.
It’s time to make sure our leaders know that our healthcare coverage is NOT a political football. This is a national emergency! Your members of Congress need to know that their constituents are very concerned about access to quality, affordable healthcare for their families! And you can do that by showing up in person to share stories (we’ll email them to you!) about how the ACA, Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP have helped families. This will help your member of Congress understand why repealing or weakening these critical healthcare programs is reckless and dangerous for America’s families and economy.
Speak out! Sign up to attend a town hall near you (or to drop by your members of Congress’ office): http://action.momsrising.org/signup/town-hall-protect-healthcare/
The clock is ticking. Each and every day some members of Congress are working to roll back the huge gains in coverage we’ve made in recent years and devising a plan to make massive cuts to Medicaid, CHIP, and Medicare—while others are fighting for us. Let’s back them up!
