"We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice." –Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., “I Have a Dream”, August 28th, 1963

August 28th marks the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s historical “I Have a Dream” speech. Not only is this a time for celebration, it's also a time to reflect on the work ahead of us to fulfill Dr. King’s vision for social justice, equal economic opportunity, and racial healing.

It is in this spirit that we present to you this blog carnival, “Moms Get Real About Race in America: A MomsRising Blog Carnival in Honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights March on Washington." In the text below you will see a series of writings by mothers of all backgrounds sounding off on issues of race, equal economic opportunity, and justice. Please do take a moment to read the below, to comment on the blogs and share what this historical date means to you, and to share these blog posts with your social media networks.

Together we are a powerful force for all women and families in our country. Thanks for stopping by today!
