Tell your U.S. Senator: “Vote NO on any bill that repeals Obamacare!
September 19, 2017
It’s not yet October, but it seems that some extremists in the U.S. Senate and Pres. Trump are bringing out the zombies—in the form of yet another ridiculous and damaging Obamacare (health care) repeal bill! Boo.
**We can’t let this bill pass! Sign on now to tell your U.S. Senator: Protect our health care now!
It’s mind boggling! After failing in multiple attempts this year (and nearly a hundred times since the Affordable Care Act was passed) to take health care coverage away from—and raise costs for—millions of people in our nation, U.S. Senate Republicans and Pres. Trump have brought back their Affordable Care Act (ACA/Obamacare/health care) repeal bill in the form of the Cassidy-Graham bill. It gets worse: U.S. Senate Republican leaders have indicated that if they can find 50 votes (they got 49 last time) that they’ll bring the bill to the floor for a vote and reports from Capitol Hill say they’re within striking distance of being able to pass it!
Across the nation, moms and dads, patients and providers, hospitals and advocacy organizations, have been fighting this zombie bill all year. But it keeps coming back—and each time it gets a bit worse! Right now, U.S. Senate leadership is determining the level of public support for the bill, which means every U.S. Senator needs to hear from their constituents TODAY that it’s time to put these partisan attempts to repeal our health care to rest and instead begin working toward strengthening our nation’s health care system instead. The Cassidy-Graham bill is not only another rushed, secretive, destructive health care repeal bill, but it could also undermine some promising bipartisan discussions that began a few weeks ago on how to strengthen our health care system.

Dear Senator,I am writing to urge you to vote ‘No’ on ANY bill that repeals Obamacare or guts Medicaid funding. Families need stability in our health care coverage. The repeated attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) are nothing more than an assault on our health care security! Please support the ACA, protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and the expansion of Medicaid that has helped millions of parents gain coverage—many for the first time in their lives. A repeal would be devastating to people across the nation, especially low-income women, families, people with disabilities, elderly people, and those who live in rural and medically underserved communities, with a compounding impact in Black, Latinx, Asian, Native American, and LGBTQ+ communities. Not on our watch! Please, stop playing politics with our health care and work in a bipartisan way to secure and strengthen the Affordable Care Act and reject this new attempt to repeal it!
With our nation’s health care hanging in the balance, we don’t have time to waste. The Cassidy-Graham bill would have devastating effects on families and kids across the nation. It would eliminate the expansion of Medicaid, which extended coverage to millions of low-income parents across the nation, and eliminate completely the marketplace subsidies that moderate-income families use to help afford coverage.
But the terrible ideas don’t stop there in this bill! The Cassidy-Graham bill would also strip coverage protections away from people with pre-existing conditions and defund Planned Parenthood, making it impossible for millions to get the primary and preventive care they need.
Now is the time to rise above petty politics. We need our leaders to work together to stabilize insurance markets, stop sabotaging ACA marketplaces, and improve the affordability of health coverage—the lives of infants, children, and mothers are at stake! These repeal efforts must stop!
