It was beautiful to see Representative Gabrielle Giffords--the Congresswoman who's been making a remarkable recovery after being shot in the head last year in Arizona--standing to receive an embrace from the President at his State of the Union address last night. While Representative Giffords has come such a long way from where she was a year ago, today to tears and good wishes from her colleagues, she formally resigned her office in order to focus on her continued recovery.

We are grateful for Representative Giffords' service in Congress and for her example of courage and grace for us all.
