Ashley is a 14 year old student at Marshall Middle School attending 8th grade. She currently resides in Olympia, Washington but spent most of her childhood in the small nearby town of McCleary. She is active in sports and a mentor at her school. She is passionate about standing up for what she believes in, and through her mom has learned how to advocate for things that are dear to her heart. She has convinced some of her friends to attend legislative hearings to testify on the Breakfast after the Bell proposal, and invited friends from school to participate in Have a Heart for Kids Day as extra credit for her social studies class. Ashley has recently been selected to serve as a page in this year’s legislative session.

Many children suffer from poverty and deal with problems daily and don’t speak up. They rely on other people’s voices to tell their story and I am here to bring up my voice and tell my story.
