Iara Peng is the Director of Strategy and Operations at Solidaire Network, a community of individuals with access to financial resources who are committed to funding progressive social movements. She has worked as a social justice leader since 2001, when she became the first executive director of the Youth Justice Funding Collaborative, a funding partnership between philanthropists and activists.
Early in her career, she worked to build the progressive leadership pipeline and founded Young People For, a national progressive leadership development program training the next generation of social justice nonprofit and elected leaders. She managed executive transitions for Tides Foundation and for Van Jones at Green For All. Most recently, she founded T21: Together in the 21st Century, inspired by the birth of her son, Joshua. T21 is dedicated to empowering parents of children with Trisomy-21 by equipping them with resources to help their children reach their fullest potential.
She has served as a strategic consultant to nonprofits and on the boards of Tides Foundation, Tides Center, The Beatitudes Society, and the Alliance for Nonprofit Management. Currently, she serves on the boards of the San Carlos Education Foundation and the Baker Institute for Children with Hearing Loss. She holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in nonprofit institutional analysis from Columbia University. She lives in the Bay Area and is the proud mother of Isaac (9), Joshua (7), and Kaia (5).
