Jessica Arons is the President and CEO of the Reproductive Health Technologies Project. Prior to joining RHTP, she served as the Director of the Women’s Health & Rights program at the Center for American Progress. Before that, she worked at the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project, the labor and employment law firm of James & Hoffman, the Supreme Court of Virginia, the White House, and the 1996 Pennsylvania Democratic Coordinated Campaign. She currently serves on the advisory board of Law Students for Reproductive Justice, and she is a former board member of the D.C. Abortion Fund and the Virginia ACLU. She is an honors graduate of Brown University and William and Mary School of Law.

When pregnant, I was lucky enough to receive excellent prenatal care. Still, I was bombarded – and frankly, sometimes overwhelmed – with messages about what to do and what to avoid during pregnancy. And despite doing my best to comply with the prevailing guidance, my son was probably born – like most babies in the United States – with 200+ chemicals in his body. So much for clean living. People always say good health is the greatest gift, so let’s make health a priority this Mother’s Day.
