New America Media, the first and largest association of ethnic news media, was founded in 1996 by the nonprofit Pacific News Service to further its mission of diversifying American journalism and communications. Headquartered in San Francisco, NAM has satellite offices in New York and Washington DC, and youth-produced community media hubs across California. NAM's goal is to expand ethnic media's capacity to inform and engage immigrant and ethnic minority communities on vital issues of public policy and social justice. In an ever more fragmented media landscape, NAM fosters collaboration both among and between ethnic news outlets and between ethnic media and general market news outlets.
