Something big is happening in Raleigh on Tuesday—healthcare supporters from across the state will be coming together to speak out for health coverage expansion in North Carolina! We'll be joining with our state partners for the event and we hope you can come, too!
NC lawmakers had the opportunity under the Federal Affordable Care Act to expand coverage to low-income, uninsured adults, but they refused. This has created a coverage gap for nearly 500,000 North Carolinians who don't make enough money to qualify for subsidies on the exchange! (Yes, you read that right... they don't make "enough" to qualify for help because people under a certain income were supposed to get Medicaid.)
Attending the Coverage Expansion Advocacy Day is a great opportunity to bring attention to the need to close the health coverage gap that has left low-income workers, caretakers, and college students out of affordable coverage.
Can you come? Please let us know by registering here: http://action.momsrising.org/signup/NC_Medicaid_RSVP_2015/
The day will include an advocacy training, press conference, and the opportunity to encourage your lawmakers to increase access to healthcare coverage in North Carolina. Feel free to bring your children to come out and learn about the General Assembly and to meet with lawmakers!
Attending this advocacy day is a great opportunity to get involved and to let our state lawmakers know that you care about closing the Coverage Gap in North Carolina. If you’ve never been to the General Assembly, this is the perfect time!
