As we gather this November, we recognize the mix of emotions many are feeling — grief, fear, hope, and determination – and reflect on the election and the road ahead. Even as we recognize the challenges, we’re also holding gratitude – for you, for the movement we’re building together, and for the many victories we DID have this November. Thanks to the efforts of 82,938 amazing MomsRising volunteers, we made a real impact for moms, families, and communities nationwide.
While we lost at the top of the ticket, we won 50 of our Moms Seal of Approval on Child Care Candidates & Mom Power Elections Candidates. That’s a 71% win rate. We also helped win Care and Reproductive Freedom ballot measures across the nation.
This election reminded us of the power of persistence and the strength of our shared commitment to building a country that truly values caregiving, secures women’s health, and stands united against hate and division.
We are unwavering in our vision of safe, welcoming communities, affordable child care, maternal health equity, reproductive freedom, paid family and medical leave, accessible home care, fair pay, and gun safety. You, your family, and our nation need these critically important tools more than ever. Together, we’re the unstoppable force our nation needs to create a better, brighter future for all.
Thank you for being a vital part of this beautiful movement.
With boundless gratitude,
Kristin, Donna, Beth, Nina, Lauren, and everyone at MomsRising

Thanks to incredible members like you, mom voter engagement reached record-breaking levels this year! You called, wrote, texted, attended events, supported one another, and inspired more moms to vote than ever before. Together, your efforts achieved groundbreaking victories:
- Helped 50 Congressional candidates who support moms and care policies win their elections.
- Elected two Black women to the United States Senate at the same time for the first time ever – Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE) and Angela Alsobrooks (MD).
- Played a role in care victories on the ballot in red, purple, and blue states, including Alaska, Missouri, Nebraska, and Washington State.
- Helped secure wins on 7 out of 10 state abortion ballot measures – Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, and New York.
This is the power of moms in action. Thank you for being an unstoppable force for change!
NORTH CAROLINA EXPANDS PAID LEAVE
North Carolina MomsRising members applaud Gov. Roy Cooper’s executive order granting state employees up to 40 hours of paid bereavement leave following the loss of a close family member or coworker. This policy, which includes spouses, children, siblings, parents, and grandparents, marks a significant step forward for supporting workers during times of grief. MomsRising members from North Carolina were key in advocating for this change. Read the full press release here.

So we’re doing it again! Our next MomsRising Community Zoom meeting is on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, starting at 8:30 pm ET/ 5:30 pm PT – and you’re invited to join us. *RSVP here to say you’re interested and get details.
TAKE ACTION!!
After the election, we’ve been hearing from moms from every corner of this country asking how they can stay engaged together. We hear you, and we got you!
Here are several ways you can engage:
ACTION 1: Sign up for the MomsRising Action Network to Stop Disinfo Campaign. The sheer level of disinformation, misinformation, and flat out lies that was aimed at voters was historically high through this election. Disinformation hurts democracy – so we’re launching a campaign to educate the public about the disinformation crisis. Sign up to learn more and fight back.
ACTION 2: Are you ready to connect with others locally? Sign on here! You’re not alone. The MomsRising community is more than 1,044,000 strong. We’re developing programs, and as we move into 2025, we’ll help you make new connections and strengthen those you already have. Some ideas we have in mind: Sending out emails that provide connection opportunities for interested members, providing mom-focused resources, and expanding our state moms force and on-the-ground fellowship programs. Sign on to be the first to learn more!
ACTION 3: Community Brainstorm: Share your ideas for RISING! Part of the strategy of persistence is listening and learning. MomsRising is made up of over 1,044,000 members of diverse backgrounds, experiences, cultures, geographic locations, and ages. We have members who have been involved for decades and members who just joined us yesterday. We all experienced this election differently. We want your ideas on how we move forward, build on our momentum, and continue to grow and expand as a community and as a movement. Our work together is needed MORE THAN EVER. Please share your ideas for how we can RISE together!
ACTION 4: Sign up to apply to be a 2025 Beacon of Hope Volunteer Fellow. MomsRising runs a Beacons program, a ten-month volunteer fellowship program that builds leadership and advocacy skills. More importantly, it is a community of moms across the country who are connected to each other on an ongoing basis, and who meet regularly to learn from and support one another as we take action and build local power. You should apply! We'll review applications starting in December, with follow-up interviews. Acceptances will be decided by late January 2025.
ACTION 5: Put your dot on the map to show the power of our movement – and to show that none of us are alone. The programs we built together to get out the vote (with more than 82,938 GOTV volunteers!) created a bigger, stronger, more powerful, long-term movement. Thank you. We are in this together and we’re not giving up. Many people are feeling alone right now, so we invite you to help show the continued power of us together – and help people feel less alone. Reach out to family and friends.*Click here to put a dot on a map to show others in your community that you’re not giving up for our daughters, our sons, our aging parents, our future generations, and ourselves.
And that’s not all! MomsRising’s Nina Perez and Lauren Hipp have compiled a helpful list of local community actions, kids activities, and resources for family safety.
Sending love your way!
MOMSRISING IN THE NEWS
Many parents voted for Trump. His top priority should be expanding the child tax credit, advocates say.
“Our nation’s families, businesses, and our economy simply can’t succeed without a care infrastructure…The work to make child care (and elder and disability home care) affordable, paid family and medical leave accessible, wages fair, and maternal health secure will continue, without pause.” – MomsRising Executive Director Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner
THE 19TH: 'We didn't win, sweet girl': For these moms, Harris' loss is a loss for their children, too
“Part of it is just like, as a female with daughters, feeling like more than half of the country just doesn’t see the potential in women, doesn’t care about the rights of women…It just is heartbreaking.” – MomsRising member Cara Ross (also features member Camilla Thomspon)
