I am headed to the Hispanicize conference this week. It’s the first time that I go to a conference as both a blogger and an activist (can I just say I’m still not used to that word?).
I’m excited on so many fronts. Next week is my 40th birthday (woohoo!). I’m hoping to be able to celebrate it with a “CHIP” victory. It’s the little things, people.
You see, right now a bipartisan group in Congress is making progress toward extending funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) which is set to expire later this year! With talks heating up, it’s critically important for our lawmakers to hear from us so they keep up the good work.
Which leads me to you guys! I can’t do this alone. These folks need to hear from you. Cheer them on! Let them know we are rooting for them and for CHIP! Sign on to our open letter in support of children’s health.
It’ll be like an early birthday present to me and to the millions of children across the country that rely on CHIP for coverage.
Lawmakers need to hear from us in record numbers to make this happen. The health coverage of over 8 million children nationwide hangs in the balance. One of those is my own Frog Princess.
A signature helps and so does a call!
Text CHIP to 747464 to get you connected with your member of Congress’ office so you can tell whomever answers the phone that you want your representative to support the Children’s Health Insurance Program until 2019 if possible.
And if you do this while you’re at Hispanicize, come find me because I might have something to give you!
See you in Miami!
