Make voting even more fun this year by hosting your very own Mini-Voting Party!

It’s time to party – and by party, we mean power up democracy. Let’s get together with our friends, our family, our pets, and our kids, turn up the music, and get out the vote. We at MomsRising know that voting is fun, especially with your kids. And we’re inviting our communities to join us. Come one, come all!

So, here’s a step-by-step guide to power your vote and make voting even more fun this year by hosting your very own Mini-Voting Party. Let’s get the party started!

LET’S PLAN A MINI-VOTING PARTY! (This can be you and your kid or cat!)

1. First things first, get your vote on by checking your registration to make sure you’re ready to vote. The last day to register to vote depends on your state – find out your state’s registration deadline HERE.

2. Next, plot your steps. Determine when, how, and where you’ll be casting your ballot this year so you can set aside time in your busy schedule to vote.

  • WHEN & HOW: Most states offer many voting options – you can vote early, vote by mail, or vote in-person on Election Day! See your personalized voting information by state HERE.
  • WHERE: If you opt to vote in-person – early or on Election Day – find your polling location HERE.

3. Now, let’s build our Mini-Voting Party Teams. Who will you vote with?

  • Your kid! Your cat! Your friends! Your neighbors! Your parents! Your coworkers! If each of us invites 3 people, we’ll triple our voting power. And don’t forget to bring your kids – voting with kids is fun!  Be a voter, raise a voter.

  • Have a book group? Sports team? Walk group? Other? Get together at a coffee shop (or home) to plan your votes and celebrate together!

  • Invite your Mini-Voting Party Team and let them in on the plan, making sure they also know that they can pre-check their registration too.

MAKE VOTING FUN (WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED)!

1. Celebrate! It’s time to celebrate the important work that you and your voting team have done to power democracy. Bring out the snacks, grab the art supplies, and turn up the music. And don’t forget to take photos!

  • MomsRising has put together voting-themed crafts and activities for kids of all ages to celebrate voting (so you can have fun bringing kids to vote with you!) – Check them out HERE!

  • Queue up MomsRising’s VOTING PLAYLIST - growing by the day through your submissions!

  • “Go fishing” on your ballot!

    • At your voting meetup on the way to the polls, or if you’re voting with people at your kitchen table, you can pre-review the candidates and initiatives on your local ballot so you know what to expect.

    • Spending a bit of time online figuring out where each candidate stands can be fun. This can be a fun “go fish” type activity together to fish around to see if the candidates support your top priorities. If you don’t yet have your ballot, you can see what’s on your local ballot HERE.

2. Dance (or walk with fun music) to the polls, ballot dropbox, mailbox or wherever your voting plan has you going. And don’t forget to bring your kids!

PLAY IT FORWARD – TRIPLE YOUR POWER.

1. Inspire others to vote too! Post on social media! Share your plan to vote and get your friends and family pumped up to vote (and bring their kids!).

  • Share a picture of your ballot and/or you voting on social media with #MomsVote to inspire even more people to vote!

  • Screenshot or download this graphic and circle how you voted & post on social media with #MomsVote.

  • Share on social media along with the song that fires you up to vote and pictures from your Mini-Voting Party!  Remember to use #MomsVote to help inspire even more people to vote!

2. Now that you’ve hosted your first voting party, it’s time to pass it along. Text 3 more people – friends, family, and young people – you know to remind them to vote.

  • Sample text: Hey friend! I just voted, and had a great time doing it. This year, I hosted my very own voting party – and you can too. Voting with friends and kids is fun! Check out MomsRising's Voting Party toolkit and learn how to get your voting team together and celebrate getting out the vote. If you haven’t already, please vote on or before November 5th! **(Don’t forget to include photos!)**

Let’s get the voting parties started! Thank you for voting and for ALL that you do.
