Here at MomsRising we are not just food justice advocates, we're also readers who follow a variety of food bloggers. This month we want to highlight some of our favorite LGBTQ Food Bloggers. They inspire us for a variety of reasons - their original recipes (and recreations of recipes!), photography, wit and so much more.
Listed in no particular order, check out our team's list of Top LGBTQ Food Bloggers.
The Bitten Word
Zach and Clay are a gay couple who write The Bitten Word, a very popular and awesome food blog. Each month they copy a recipe from the MANY food magazines they subscribe to and try to reproduce it, then share how easy to make, good it is, and if it becomes a disaster. We wouldn't say their recipes are always healthy ... but they are always entertaining!
Follow The Bitten Word on Twitter and Facebook.
Bonus: Zach is a journalist and Clay works for No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit working to end child hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every. single. day.
Latino Foodie
Latino Food was founded by married couple, Art Rodriguez, a culinary expert, and Stephen Chavez, a PR consultant specializing in the Hispanic food and beverage market. Based in LA, they feature traditional Mexican dishes, with a contemporary twist.
Two of my favorite Latino Foodie recipes are their upside down plantain cake with toasted coconut and their red quinoa salad with avocado and grilled corn. Pura riquesa! / Pure goodness! But don't take my word for it, go check them out! They have tons of other recipes, featuring step by step instructions, with photos, and occasionally videos as well.
Check out their website at www.latinofoodie.com. You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter.
Bonus: Art and Stephen of Latino Foodie not only share recipes, they educate their audience on Latino cultural traditions.

Queer Vegan Food
Sarah E. Brown is the brains behind Queer Vegan Food. She started the plant-source only site to change how others view (and eat!) vegan foods. Sarah is not afraid to step off the beaten path with new "truly queer recipes" and wants to make sure her readers understand that there is a major difference between vegan cuisine, which she says imitates non-vegan foods, and vegan culinary. And, she delivers! Check out her Garlicky Cream Of Broccoli Soup and Blueberry Ginger Kiwi Kale Juice (Yum!).
You can follow Sarah's blog at queerveganfood.com. She's also on Twitter and Facebook.
Bonus: Sarah is a fierce LGBTQ advocate, establishing a LGBTQ Diversity in Tech Meet-Up group in her area to combat discrimination in the technology industry.
Soraya Sobreidad
Soraya Sobreidad is a transgender blogger/vlogger and Latina chef. Soraya is a former contestant of the Food Network show Chopped who has also been featured in the Daily News and the New York Times. She hosts a very successful YouTube cooking show, where she showcases healthy versions of Hispanic foods, like bacalaitos/codfish fritters, gluten-free empanadas, and so much more.
