Amanda Hooper is the Deputy Director of Engagement and Mobilization at the National Women's Law Center, where she runs advocacy campaigns on issues impacting women and families, ranging from minimum wage to equal pay, and from protections for pregnant workers to affordable child care.
Amanda is a seasoned community and political organizer with nearly ten years of experience in communications, advocacy, and building grassroots power to effect change. Before joining the NWLC team, Amanda worked for Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), both as a staffer on Capitol Hill and as a field organizer on the Congresswoman’s 2010 re-election campaign. She has also worked as a community organizer, bringing together a diverse, interfaith coalition of congregations to address collective concerns.
Amanda holds a Master of Studies in Women and Politics from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan. A 2011 transplant to D.C., Amanda is a native Michigander who bleeds maize and blue.
