Kathy leads Women's Action for New Direction's (WAND) policy and advocacy strategy development. She particularly focuses on WAND's agenda to shift excessive Peantagon spending to crucial investment in human needs and true security. She also pomotoes WAND's efforts work towards a safe world without nuclear weapons, and promote women to be at the tables of power builiding lasting peace and security both here and around the word. Kathy has a background working with policymakers and grassroots advocates on nuclear disarmament and budget issues for a variety of organizations including Physicians for Social Responsibility, the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability and others. She is proud to have started her career working for Women Strike for Peace and is especially pleased to now be at WAND educating, empowering and engaging women working for peace and security.

The current proposed Ryan budget is another verse in a fiscal opera that brutally attacks social safety net programs, earned benefits and needed investments in a range of programs from education, health care, road, bridges, energy and science research and much more. The one category of spending that is untouched by fiscal austerity is Pentagon and war spending. This out of tune approach is hitting women and children especially hard.
