About the Campaign: We're thrilled to be working on Paid Family Leave with MomsRising members and our partners in Oregon. On April 8, 2009, we had an awesome kick off at the Capitol to introduce the Paid Family Leave bill. The event included a press conference featuring Sandwich Mom (a mom in wacky sandwich costume, symbolizing the way moms are sandwiched between competing responsibilities to work and home), personal deliveries of PB&J sandwiches and member messages to every single Oregon State Senator, and an amazing hearing where the support for the bill was overwhelming. The grassroots...

Last week, President Obama signed into law the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act -- his first new law as president, and a bill long championed by Connecticut's own Rosa DeLauro. Right now, almost half of all workers in Illinois don't have a single paid sick day. Too many Americans are forced to go to work sick, to choose between taking time off to care for a sick child or losing a day's pay, or even end up losing their jobs when illness strikes. It's time to solve this problem and build the movement to bring paid sick days to Illinois! A paid sick days bill in Illinois would: - bring paid sick days to nearly 2.5 million workers - allow full time employees to earn up to 7 paid sick days per year - allow part-time workers to earn a prorated amount of paid sick days -...
