My husband was laid off in December, and just got a new job that starts in March. The health insurance his new company offers is much less than we had with his previous job, and would cost us thousands of dollars. When we went to buy private health insurance from a small business pool, we discovered that he's uninsurable because of a minor health condition that has cost less than $500 over the last 5 years.
