After a career in both alternative and mainstream journalism, ending with a dozen years at the Los Angeles Times, he is now a senior policy writer at the liberal political blog Daily Kos and executive editor of Native American Netroots, a forum for and a repository of American Indian thought. He now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
