Hispanic Heritage Month has kicked off and with it, I've been thinking a lot about wellness as it relates to Latinos. I hope you'll join me for the rest of the month as we discuss health topics specific to this population and bring awareness to very important concerns.

Like the fact that cancer is the #1 killer of U.S. Hispanics. Mami died of cancer and Papi is a cancer survivor so, while I have the statistics right in my family tree, it was still hard to grasp that 1 in 2 Hispanic men and 1 in 3 women would have cancer in their lifetime.

Here's a look ahead at upcoming tweetchats (so you can put them on your calendar):

  • 09/30: Heart Disease and Diabetes in Latinos
  • 10/07: Breastfeeding - a Hispanic Tradition
  • 10/14: HIV/AIDS Awareness

We shared tons of great information along with some resources this past Wednesday. I hope that it serves you.
