The U.S. House just pulled the incredibly destructive American Health Care Act (AHCA) from the floor because they didn’t have the votes to pass it. VICTORY!!!! This bill would have cut 24 million people off health care. But we persisted, spoke out, and won! Over the last 3 months you called, wrote letters, showed up at town hall meetings, and shared your health care stories.
You persisted against all odds to fight the destructive AHCA and it’s made a huge difference—THANK YOU!
But while we’re smiling right now, this fight is far from over. Trump is sure to take another swing at gutting health care. So it’s on us to keep the pressure on and pump up the volume.

We need to make sure this health care gutting craziness doesn't move a step further. Our country has serious problems to address and stripping health care from 24 million Americans is not one of them.
*Can you chip in to help us in our work to continue to stand up against awful health care proposals and make sure your voice continues to be heard in Washington, D.C. https://action.momsrising.org/donate/we_persisted_healthcare/?source=blog
For months, the more than one million members of MomsRising have been pushing Congress to protect Medicaid and improve the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), instead of repealing it. In January and February, our members across the country visited the offices of elected officials to deliver stories from every state that described how the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid have saved lives. In addition, tens of thousands of our members signed letters in support of the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid. And last month, we had moms fly in to give testimony to members of Congress in D.C.; more than 5,000 MomsRising members attended town halls to speak out for access to affordable health care; and in just the past three days, thousands and thousands of our members called their representatives to urge them to oppose the American Health Care Act.
You were heard!
We are thankful that the Affordable Care Act remains the law of the land and 24 million people get to keep their health insurance.
Supercharge our health care work to make sure we keep Medicaid strong and the Affordable Care Act intact (and with it, health care coverage for tens of millions of people)! https://action.momsrising.org/donate/we_persisted_healthcare/?source=blog
We made a difference. We stopped great harm from happening. The impact of this legislation, if passed, would have been devastating to tens of millions of people. There would have been a compounding harmful impact in Black, Latinx, Asian, Native American and LBGTQ+ communities. Medicaid in particular helps boost vulnerable communities, including communities of color, people with disabilities, low-income families, the elderly and pregnant women. If passed, the AHCH would have ended this safety net and forced millions of Americans to go without the lifesaving and life affirming care they so desperately need. Together, we played a major role in stopping this destruction from happening.
And MomsRising will continue to stand against any efforts to gut health care coverage.
This happened because of you! Thank you for standing with us in fighting for the health of women and children!
