Statement “The budget the Trump administration released today will be dead on arrival in Congress, as it should be. These are the same bad ideas that we have seen throughout the Trump administration and it is high time these terrible proposals be relegated to the trash heap, where they belong. The President’s budget would exacerbate inequality by slamming shut the doors of opportunity to hard-working moms and families who are striving for economic security, and by making life immeasurably harder when illness strikes or job markets tighten.

Statement “Today, in a stunning failure to protect our country and honor their oath, a slim majority of U.S. Senators voted for a sham acquittal of President Trump for abusing his power and obstructing Congress – the appalling crimes for which he was deservedly impeached.  “Moms across America are appalled by this miscarriage of justice.

Statement “People in this country are living in a very different America than the one President Trump bragged about tonight. For moms, women, people of color, immigrants, the LGBTQ community, people with disabilities, working families, seniors, and so many others, since Trump took office life has become harder, hatred and discrimination more ominous, government services more scarce, health care more tenuous, and our country much less united, safe and fair.

Statement “Mitch McConnell’s victory today is America’s great loss. All but two Republican U.S. Senators joined in the shameful vote to call no witnesses at President Trump’s impeachment trial. This vote undermines the credibility of the U.S. Senate and makes a mockery of its commitment to justice and accountability. If, as appears almost certain, it leads to acquittal without consideration of the evidence, it will cause profound and lasting harm to our democracy. Such is the price of moral cowardice among those holding high office.

Statement “Under the guise of flexibility and innovation, the Trump administration this morning unveiled guidance that would radically alter Medicaid and allow states to weaken coverage and end crucial protections for people who rely on this program for their health care. We are not fooled.

News release WASHINGTON, DC – The urgent push to adopt a comprehensive national paid family and medical leave program got a boost today when the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on the issue, under the leadership of Chair Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA) and Ranking Member Kevin Brady (R-TX).

Statement “Yesterday’s narrow, 5- 4 U.S. Supreme Court decision to lift the nationwide injunction that was blocking the cruel, anti-immigrant public charge rule from taking effect was deeply disappointing and truly harmful. Upending the judicial review process allows the Trump administration to create terror and hardship among low-income immigrants and immigrant families of color, threatening their health, housing and nutrition, in ways the Court may ultimately not allow.

Statement “Pregnant women already face an unconscionable level of discrimination in the United States. They disproportionately experience discrimination at work and mistreatment in our health care system.
