Statement “No mom or dad, no son or daughter, should ever have to fear a loved one could come to harm at the hands of those charged with protecting them. Yet look at the headlines. Thirteen-year-old Tyre King, as well as Keith Scott and Terence Crutcher, both fathers, were killed by police just this week.  What's going on isn't right, it isn't fair, and it's not okay. It’s not only breaking our hearts, it’s breaking our nation.  And it must stop.

Statement “In April, we marked Equal Pay Day, the day that symbolizes when women, on average had finally earned the same amount as men had during the 2015 calendar year. But that one day doesn't tell the whole story. In June we marked "Moms' Equal Pay Day" and in late August we marked "Black Women's Equal Pay Day." Today we're marking Native American Women’s Equal Pay Day (and Latinas' Equal Pay Day comes weeks later from now). The truth is we're tired of marking all of these days and we look forward to the day when we no longer need to shine a light on the women and mothers' wage gap.

Statement “In the wake of public outcry and the threat of a U.S. Senate investigation, Mylan today announced that it won’t actually LOWER the cost of its lifesaving EpiPens, but will offer a discount coupon to some purchasers. Given that the company has increased the cost of this crucial medication 450 percent in the last three years, and the epinephrine itself costs a dollar to manufacture, this move is wholly inadequate and incredibly cynical. Mylan will still reap outrageous profits overcharging for a medication that many people need to survive.

Statement “Childcare now costs more than college in most states in our nation. It’s a true emergency. Parents need safe, enriching places for their children to be so they can work; and children need safe, enriching early education so they can thrive. While we are encouraged that both Presidential candidates are tackling the issue of affordable childcare, Donald Trump’s new proposed childcare tax deduction plan falls far short of a solution: It’s great for the wealthy, but it doesn’t fix the childcare crisis for the majority of parents in America.
