Statement “Yesterday’s federal court ruling is a miscarriage of justice that will cause real and immediate harm to asylum-seeking families already suffering trauma from being separated and detained. No mom or dad should ever be forced to choose between giving up a child or exposing her or him to COVID-19, which has already taken more than 140,000 lives in our country.

Statement “The murder of Vanessa Guillen is an unspeakable tragedy, made all the more appalling by the military’s utter failure to protect this young woman and then to effectively investigate her disappearance and murder. When your child chooses to serve her country by enlisting in the military, you hope it will brighten her future and you worry about dangers associated with combat, not dangers posed by fellow soldiers.

Statement “As moms, we cannot imagine having to choose between staying together in detention where COVID is raging or separating our families in order for our children to be safe. ICE must immediately release all families together. There is no one better suited to care for their child than a loving parent. Detaining children and families is traumatizing, heartless and extraordinarily dangerous in the face of COVID -19.

Statement “Today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled, by the slimmest of margins, to invalidate the Trump administration’s cruel, racist move to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program. This is a great day for the country. Most immediately, today’s ruling means that some 700,000 immigrant youth can remain in the only country most have ever called home, which will strengthen our health care system, our economy and our country.

Statement “Today the highest court in our land struck a blow for fairness, justice and equality at work by ruling that existing civil rights law protects working people from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. In ruling by a margin of 6 – 3 that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination against LGBTQ+ people, the U.S. Supreme Court granted LGBTQ+ workers the protections everyone deserves against unfair treatment in the workplace.

Statement “At this time when people across the United States are stepping forward to take a stand against systemic racism and police violence, it is shameful that the Trump administration is trying to institutionalize its racist immigration and asylum policies. Families belong together. We are all connected. And every family deserves a chance to live free of violence.

Statement “This Moms' Equal Pay Day, we especially want to explicitly and clearly focus on the fact that Black moms and women are especially vulnerable to pay discrimination, as well as to the health and economic harms that COVID-19 is causing. We hold many of the frontline jobs that have kept this country going during the pandemic, even as it is taking a disproportionate and deadly toll on our community. At the same time, we are leading much of the organizing against police violence and racism that is essential to building a safe future for our children.

Statement “The right to protest is one of the bedrock foundations of our democracy and has led to vitally important advances throughout our history. In the United States of America, we have the right to protest, to make our voices heard, and to speak truth to power. The brutal murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police deserves the sustained, furious national response it has generated, with people taking a stand against the horrific racism that has long pervaded our criminal justice system – and our society – and time and again takes innocent lives.

Statement “The moms of America are grieving that George Floyd was killed by four police officers earlier this week. No mother should have to worry about the loss of a loved one at the hands of those charged with protection. No one should lose their lives. “MomsRising is calling for the police officers who killed George Floyd to be charged with murder and for the vicious and inflammatory attacks on protesters, including the inflammatory attacks by President Trump, to stop immediately.

Statement “America’s moms and families are well aware that our country was lacking quality, affordable child care before the pandemic, and we have watched with grave, growing concern as it’s become clear that it will become even more scarce in the months ahead. This is a national emergency because parents need safe, enriching places for children so they can return to work, and children need safe, enriching early learning opportunities so they can thrive. That’s why we have called on lawmakers to make a significant investment in child care. We thank U.S.
